Stick-on wellbeing solutions for employees don’t work

What a surprise. Having been to various ‘Workplace Wellbeing’ conferences and webinars this year it is clear the hangover is setting in. The rush to nurture better mental wellbeing amongst staff by well-meaning HR leaders led to a smorgasbord of apps and offers channelled through corporate coffers. Great, except they are not making much of a difference. This is according to the psychologists and better informed HR folk I have been listening too.

There is also a recognition that ‘bringing your whole self to work’ is not always a good idea both for the individual, the employer organisation and the teams or departments people inhabit everyday. This is a whole discussion I won’t get into here but one of the wiser comments made was ‘it is better to bring your reflective self to work…’.

There are no shortcuts to nurturing wellbeing. High functioning organisations have to be worked on at the:

Individual level

Team level

Organisational level

This means working on the skills and behaviours of people to communicate, operate and respect each other in the workplace (virtual or physical).

This is why I am so excited and proud of the MindHarp approach to team-building. It does all of these things and does it in a genuinely engaging and unique way. Not only this, it is a method that can be easily understood and practised.
